
At the Three Gorges New Energy Shandong Changyi Liutuan 50MW wind power project site, a 2,600-ton all-terrain crane XCA2600 successfully hoisted a wind turbine by XCMG. Each unit component can weigh up to 171 tons, equivalent to the combined weight of over 100 household cars. The crane can reach a lifting capacity of 2,600 tons, and especially at a lifting height of 160 meters, it can achieve an ultimate lifting capacity of 173 tons, once again setting a new world record for the highest maximum lifting capacity of a full-surface crane.
Today, as one of the leading industries in China for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, wind power equipment manufacturing is moving toward “higher, heavier, and larger” large-scale operations. Lifting and installation equipment with higher lifting weights, higher lifting heights, more efficient heavy load relocation, and safer technical support has become essential for the rapid development of China’s wind power industry.
Li Changqing, chief designer of XCA2600, stated that XCMG has independently developed and tackled comprehensive ground cranes over 1,000 tons and has successfully achieved import substitution. As a global record holder, every two years we produce the wheel crane with the highest lifting capacity. A 2,600-ton all-ground crane can cover over 90% of the wind turbine lifting nationwide, increasing the lifting efficiency of ultra-large turbines by 30%-50%, achieving the wind power installation goals during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and continuously exporting the strength of major national equipment.
It is reported that the Three Gorges New Energy Changyi Liutuan 50 MW wind power project is located in this wind turbine, Shandong, which has built 19 various types of wind turbines, supplying 123 million kWh of electricity annually to Weifang and surrounding areas. After the completion and commissioning of this “largest onshore” turbine, the farm’s annual total power generation can increase to 146 million kWh, equivalent to saving 45,000 tons of standard coal annually and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 123,000 tons, which will actively support China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
