01 No “pioneer” has connected the “power heart”
The underground powerhouse is the “power core” of the pumped storage power station, buried 500 meters beneath the mountain. To excavate such a huge cavern in an alpine environment at an altitude of 3,000 meters with fragmented rock formations is no easy task.
And it is precisely the XGT3133C rock drilling vehicle produced by Xugong that has taken on this responsibility.
This equipment was jointly developed by Xugong, Yalongjiang Company, Tianjin University, China Agricultural University and China Electric Power Engineering. All the core components are domestically produced, achieving “automatic movement, precise positioning, automatic drilling, and multi-arm collaborative operation”. The drilling accuracy reaches centimeter level, and the data is transmitted in real time to the control center.
The changes brought about by “unmanned intelligent construction” are very real –
“Clear visibility of the cave environment”, “Precise positioning of the borehole points”, “Clear understanding of the rock mass conditions”, “Steady drilling of multiple holes”, the construction efficiency has increased by more than 30%. Workers have been liberated from high-intensity and high-risk operations, and the power station building was completed three months ahead of the original schedule.
02 The first of its kind in China, enabling “unmanned and intelligent” efficient construction
As the world’s first domestically-produced original-integrated intelligent unmanned three-arm rock drilling vehicle, XGC 3133C of XCMG is equipped with an advanced intelligent positioning system. Once the drawings are imported, it can autonomously complete precise movement, positioning and drilling operations. The entire process is unmanned, with the construction error controlled within centimeter level. This enables the operators to stay away from high-risk operation areas, effectively avoiding special situations such as rock wall collapse, rock burst, and water gushing. It ensures the safety of personnel to the greatest extent. The equipment’s construction efficiency is at least equivalent to that of 10 workers. It provides full protection for the efficient, accurate and safe progress of the project, and presses the construction of super projects into high gear.
At present, Xugong tunnel shaft machinery has established a complete range, covering a full range of equipment such as multi-functional drills, rock drilling trolleys, tunnel boring machines, and anchor bolt trolleys. It has constructed the construction capabilities for all processes of tunnel shaft exploration, excavation, and support. 03 The Super “Battery Charger” Powers Millions of Homes

The Two Rivers Mouth Pumped Storage Power Station is built on the basis of the largest “super reservoir” in Sichuan Province, with a total installed capacity of 420 million kilowatts. Once completed, it will generate 1.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, meeting the annual electricity demands of 600,000 households.
The world’s largest project, combined with the world’s first intelligent equipment, this “intelligent pioneer” from XCMG is steadily drilling, adding a solid contribution to the country’s green energy map.
