The 26-megawatt unit lifted this time
is currently the largest single-unit capacity and has the longest rotor diameter
offshore wind turbine in the world.
The entire unit possesses completely independent intellectual property rights
and has also achieved fully domestically designed and manufactured components.
The unit is composed of more than 30,000 parts, with the hub center of the unit reaching 185 meters, equivalent to the height of more than 50 residential floors; its rotor sweep area reaches 77,000 square meters. Not only is it currently the offshore wind turbine with the largest single-unit capacity and longest rotor diameter in the world, but it has also achieved fully domestically designed and manufactured components.

This installation task faces the dual challenge of ‘high-altitude precision operations’ and ‘complex site constraints’:
On one hand, it requires completing millimeter-level alignment of more than 200 connecting bolts at nearly 200 meters high, demanding extremely high precision;
On the other hand, the construction area has insufficient bearing capacity of the tidal flat foundation and limited site space, further increasing the difficulty of the operation.
Facing construction challenges, the project team innovatively adopted pile foundation reinforcement technology to enhance the stability of the foundation, deployed the world’s largest 4,000-ton crawler crane — XCMG XGC88000 — for lifting tasks, and, through the ‘ground pre-leveling and high-altitude precise coordination’ system solution, ultimately achieved the smooth placement of a cabin weighing thousands of tons.
Praised by CCTV as the ‘Nation’s Weight Measure,’ the super equipment XCMG XGC88000 has won the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize). It has a maximum rated lifting moment of 88,000 ton-meters, a maximum boom length combination of 216 meters, and a maximum lifting capacity of 3,600 tons, setting five records: ‘world’s largest lifting capacity, most comprehensive operating conditions, highest safety and reliability, optimal transport efficiency, and highest economic applicability.’ In addition, the equipment also features three international pioneering technologies, six internationally leading technologies, and more than 80 national patents.
Cranes are an indispensable ‘bridge’ in industrial production. Since being put into use in 2013, the XCMG XGC88000 has participated in the construction of more than 20 major projects worldwide, leaving its mark across the entire country and traveling to Belt and Road countries such as Saudi Arabia and Oman, with a cumulative lifting total of over 200,000 tons. Behind each of these lifting legends is XCMG’s R&D team, responding rapidly to market demands, starting from scratch, overcoming difficulties, innovating boldly, and carrying out precision processing in a technological ‘revolution.’
